Park North Physical Therapy proudly announces our continued collaboration with Figure Skating in Harlem (FSH), a vital youth development organization that has been uplifting the Harlem community since 1997. This partnership is rooted in our shared commitment to empowering young girls, especially girls of color, by providing educational and leadership opportunities alongside the art of figure skating.
About Figure Skating in Harlem’s Community Involvement
FSH's impact in the Harlem community is profound. Beyond teaching figure skating—a sport that fosters physical agility, discipline and self-expression—they offer comprehensive after-school and summer programs. These include educational workshops in STEM fields, ensuring students are equipped to excel academically. The success of this approach is evident: over the past five years, 100% of FSH's senior students have graduated high school and pursued higher education.
The organization also provides mentoring and hosts events with accomplished women from various industries, inspiring students to aim high. FSH's work not only transforms the lives of these young girls but also significantly benefits their families and the broader Harlem community.
Park North to Sponsor Upcoming ‘Soul on Ice’ Event
This year, Park North will sponsor the upcoming 26th Annual Gwendolyn Simmons “Soul on Ice” Event on February 4th. Combining community spirit and athleticism, this skating event will celebrate the achievements of FSH's students in a skating performance.
The ‘Soul on Ice’ Winter Skating Party will take place on February 4th, 2024 from 3:30 - 5:30pm at the Wollman Rink. Everyone is invited to come cheer on the students of FSH and enjoy an afternoon of music, food, raffle prizes and an opportunity to skate alongside FSH students.
Additional Ways Park North Physical Therapy is Supporting Harlem Skaters
In addition to event sponsorship, our experienced team of physical therapists will also be offering complimentary treatment for FSH figure skaters and will be donating $10 for every new Park North patient during February and March in honor of Black History Month.
Park North Physical Therapy in Harlem encourages everyone to learn more about FSH's transformative work. Whether through donations, volunteering or simply spreading the word, your support can make a significant difference. For more information on how to get involved with FSH, visit their website.
